Meetings: Washington County ARES meetings are generally held at the Washington County EOC room the Third Saturday of every month 9:30 AM. 197 East Tabernacle in St George Utah. (Basement area with Emergency Services)
Activity has been Cancelled
All ARES Members,
Rather than have a regular meeting on the 20th of January, we have been given the opportunity to participate in a Emergency Exercise with Washington County Emergency Services and the Utah National Guard. This is a excellent opportunity to get a feel for what it would be like if we were activated. The exercise scenario is that a large scale rain even has resulted in a breach of Quail Creek Damn and flooding in multiple areas in Washington County. WCARES has been activated to provide communication between the WCEOC and 3 other important sites. Please be aware that one of the sites is in Hildale and another in Hurricane, so there will be some travel involved. WCARES will be communicating the status of sandbag deployment, water deployment and search and rescue efforts.
Date: January 20th 2018
Time: 8am – 2pm
Meeting Location: Washington County EOC 8am
Lunch will be provided
All WCARES members who would like to participate should meet at the Washington County EOC at 8am sharp on the 20th of January. WCARES will then receive assignments at the EOC to participate in the event. Assignments will be as follows:
3 Operators to Staff the EOC Communications Room
2 Operators at the Hurricane Community Center
2 Operators at the Hildale Fire Department
2 Operators at the WCOPW
Any additional WCARES members who come will have the unique opportunity to help staff the EOC and teamed up with a EOC staff member in a supporting role for Planning, Operations, Logistics, or Finance. Assignments will be made onsite after communication needs have been filled.
You will receive these assignments at the EOC at 8am, however if you have a preference you may indicate it on the signup form and we will do our best to accommodate you.
This is a great opportunity to participate in a realistic event and I hope that each of you who are available will participate.
In order to best plan our numbers, please signup on this google form if you are planning to attend
In addition I have a official ARRL ARES hat for each of you compliments of Washington County for all you do to support emergency communications.
Thank you all, I know you make sacrifices to participate in ARES, and I greatly appreciate each of your contributions. You are all heroes in my book.
Thank you for your support.
